Johns FAQ
Whoa! Who hit you?

It’s a birthmark. It means I’m
special.
What’s your full name?
Before dinner, it’s John. After dinner,
it’s still John.
What’s the nickname by which you are best
known?
.
You figure it out.
How long have you been playing the organ?
Not as long as I planned.
What does the
mean?
I’m the
"Organist-formerly-known-as-John". You will refer to me as that.
This is serious.
What Hammond Organs do you own?
Working or not?
Working.
I have a gorgeous ’58 C3 and late 60’s
122, a fairly beat-up ’58 B3 (best sounding organ I own), and my GigRig is a
’61 A100(a hacked-up but not cut-down A102) and an early 70’s 147. I also
have an old Korg Cx3 (my first drawbar organ) that looks like Leon Sphinx, a
Korg Bx3, a totally perverted 122 and an M3 that’s about to get washed out
to sea.
Do you play any other instruments?
I REALLY miss playing piano. I miss
playing drums. I miss playing bass. I used to play the clarinet until God
proved His existence and it was stolen. I used to play sax. I miss that
sometimes too. Someday I’ll probably miss playing the clarinet. I play
guitar for my own enjoyment and violin for the annoyance of others.
If you could do it all over again, what
would you do differently?
Not a damn thing. Except maybe take back
all those times I acted like a jackass. Especially in front of women. But
then, what the hell would I have to write about? Seasons in the sun?
Do you play ALL the bass lines on the
pedals?
Most. It’s good for the bodygroove and
leaves my left hand free to conduct and make registration changes and lewd
gestures.
What are some of your previous musical
credits?
Deep Banana
Blackout ("Live in the Thousand Islands")
The Soul Providers
("The Revenge of Mr. Mopoji"/"Gimme the Paw")
and The Other Side ("Don’t Look Back Behind the Shack")
Independent releases by Hot Sauce
Gizzard("Hot Sauce Gizzard"), The Mexican Mud("Now
with More Salt"), and Loom("The End of Everything").
I’m on The
Charlie Crystle Band’s upcoming first record, "My House".
I’m producing an upcoming release by
singer-songwriter-extroardinaire, John Alden ,
which also features Jay
on guitar.
Also trying desperately (although,
admittedly, not trying that often) to finish a release by the now-defunct
Booker-T-meets-Frankenstein instrumental quartet, Xmembers.
Any last words?
No. I’m not dying.
